The fuel-pump control module is used to control the high-pressure fuel pumps of modern, computer-controlled, fuel-injected engines, including diesels. The module is typically installed on or very close to the fuel pump.
The fuel pump control module receives a signal from the ECU demanding fuel pump operation at one of two (or three, in the TT) speeds. The ECU determines the required speed and sends a signal to the Fuel pump control module, which transforms it to a voltage which is then sent to the fuel pump itself.
